Story Behind the Artwork
It's finally completed!! This painting has been in the works since 2009 when it was supposed to be a watercolor painting for a class. My "no watercolor over 8x10" curse kicked in and thus it has been sitting in my room ever since, barely started (I botched the orange building in watercolor...).
Too stubborn to toss it and paper type too expensive, I outlined every last detail in pen and layered on the Mod Podge (OMFG! Crazy idea. Turned it into Yupo paper! The first layers just slicked right off!) to seal the paper so it wouldn't warp.
2 months of work and 2 near-trashing experiences later, this is the result The original photograph was taken in 2008 and the place has changed since then (Le Bat en Rouge is back to its original location, for example).
Time to retire this reference image
My friend saw this at the Fair last week and suggested it to me. I couldn't make it down, but found this on the internet. I think it's pretty cool. If its still available, please send me details. Love the story behind the art.

When I was little, I got my portrait done in oil pastels on that "street", and I still have it.
New Orleans Square is my favorite part of Disneyland.
